Recording Studio Demolished. New Service Advisory.

Sound Weavers main and only recording studio facility has been demolished in the last week of February. Why? We are relocating to a different location (still in Makati) where we will undergo construction of a new recording studio that will have a bigger tracking room, higher ceilings and more private/comfortable environment. This new studio is expected to be online and fully operational by the first week of May 2009. We will have the ability to record better and bigger sounds, as well as bigger ensembles, even a 10-piece choir or a 7-piece band, live!

Our landline phone number is still being transferred to our temporary location, in the meantime you may text message service inquiries to 0922-855-8837 or use the “Contact Us” form on our homepage.

Recording Studio in Temporary Room
Alright, so that is an artsy shot. But don’t be fooled, the real digs is kinda
cramped. But the sound is focused enough for a setting up pre-mixes.

In the meantime, we have relocated the Control Room equipment and set-up to a unit in Cityland. See photo above of the quasi Control Room. Already, we really miss the acoustics of our old Control Room, even though we have implemented makeshift/temporary bass trapping, the noise from outside the office unit can be bothersome.

Session Rate is only P550/hour.

We’ve brought down our session rate while we are in our temporary location. This is a great rate to get us involved in your music production; from pre-production to programming, tuning, pocketing to pre-mixing, run your digital tracks through our analog processors, run your mix through our analog suming system. Please USE THE CONTACT FORM and we will get back to you within the next day.

Recording Studio Services Updated.

In this temporary Control Room, we can still offer the following Recording Studio Services (yes, we still find ways to work our asses off):

  • Mobile recording. Location and remote recording whether a full band, a piano recital performance, an orchestra or a choral group.
  • Editing. Tuning (vocals, guitars, anything with a monophonic sound). Pocketing (tightening up drum performances). Preparing songs prior to a mix (crossfades, cleanup, noise reduction, region consolidation).
  • Programming. Creation and manipulation of sounds using virtual instruments.
  • Karaoke service. Creation of karaoke backing music for personal use.
  • Pre-production. Preparing a song prior to recording, from arrangement to instrumentation and other logistics.
  • Direct Injection recording. Recording of bass guitar parts; guitar parts that use emulation software/box like POD, Ampfarm; and keyboard parts.
  • Training and Tutorial. Trying to find your way around Pro Tools LE, your hardware interface and your computer? Let us show you the way. Watch over our shoulders and get to see the concepts applied in action. Watch and learn.

The services we CANNOT offer right now are Recording of acoustic sources (Voice, Drums and percussion, Amps, Acoustic guitars), Mixing and Mastering. (We highly recommend HIT PRODUCTIONS for your recording requirements, please tell them Gerry of Sound Weavers sent you).

Our Engineer Jonathan already dreaming the new Recording StudioThis move/relocation reflects the natural progression of our passion for sound recording as well as the evolution of our philosophy in music production. We want to foster an environment where musicians will be inspired to play their parts live, altogether, isolation be damned so long as the feeling is there. We envision (ok, dream of ) situations where what we track is the final sound that will go to the mix. None to minimal tuning and pocketing, real music performances. We will keep our very analog front end eventhough our “tape” will still be digital. For mixing, we will again be very analog with our various summing devices and processors. Analog has never been more sexy, although more difficult (mix recalls for example), but the sound is just so much better (ok, different) than a 100% In The Box production. It also forces us to listen with our ears and less with our eyes. Analog is the new high tech especially since every kid and his dog can run a DAW nowadays. (Did I just start gettng opinionated and political there?) Haha.

More about the new facility will be shared in the coming days. We intend to keep a twitter account of our recording studio construction activities (which has been going on for two months… looking for architects and engineers and getting rejected or them running away scared, sourcing specialty materials that are not distributed in the Philippines, looking for contractors who understand or have experience in the field, permits).

During the lull (this sounds like a Report to Shareholders):

  • The debut CD of Dr. Crowley a classic/southern rock influenced band from Cavite will be released by  our wholly owned independent record label Rebolusyon Rekords Recorded from 2007 to 2008, we gave the time and tried our best to make sure the songs have grown and their record feel natural yet have that groove and punch, it is dirty and there’s a bit of rawness intact, too. We’re excited for this, the first CD release of Rebolusyon Rekords in 2009, the songs are just grooving that even my 65 year old Dad couldn’t stop bobbing his head to the tunes!
  • We’re involved in Artist Development for an International Producer who is nurturing a young Filipina talent to become an international star.
  • We’vee been asked to mix an independent film that will wrap shooting in May.
  • We’re also fine-tuning our business model so that we can start earning some money. We expect to roll out new service items and even better equipment in this regard.
  • Oh yeah, we’ll probably gonna go to school too for short courses on electronics, brush of on volts and watts and ohms and all that stuff.

If you’ve read this far, wow, you must really be patient and/or interested in Sound Weavers’ future and that’s great. Thanks for that. Good vibes all. Let’s keep real music flowing.
