Ribbon Mics on Saxophone (R84 R121 4038 BIV-1)

Check out this Saxophone Ribbon mics comparison session. An alto saxophone with mic’d with AEA R84, BashAudio BIV-1 (Russia), Royer R121, Coles 4038 (UK) – one performance recorded via Sytek MPX-4 preamp (3&4 with BurrBrown opamps). Mic placement about 18-22 inches away from the sax.

Sax player is Gibson Diwa who was 17yo at the time (and only 10 lessons to the instrument).
